Our troubled heroine. Once the ocean loving devil-may-care field researcher. Her passion for the ocean led her to volunteer to help remove abandoned fishing nets with the team on the Triton. Whitney now finds herself crippled by panic attacks if she looks at large bodies of water for to long.

Trying to reclaim the life she once had, Whitney has gone to therapy- Wait, no, she drowns herself in cheez-its and wine, unable to cope with the monster she saw destroy the ship and the survivors guilt. After all, sea monsters don't exist and neither to Mermaids- Right?

In leu of therapy, she leans heavily on her two best friends for support Darcy Williams and Imani Dubois-Ahuja.

The Merman, the Strippershark. His reasons for currently resding in Whitney's pool and sticking around are currently unknown. But he sure makes life interesting. If only he'd stop leaving half eaten salmon everywhere.

Smart, stylish and all around fabulous. Imani's whit makes her a brilliant criminal lawyer. But for now she is happy being a stay at home Mom for her and her wife's son, Will.  Imani uses her free time to save Whitney's butt or advise Darcy on her latest date- Or, enthusiastically trying to throw Stripper-shark back into the ocean.

A brilliant Marine Biologist whose field of study is Algae. Analytical and sure footed  her usual stoic demeanor has been challenged both by the  Triton tragedy and the bizarre appearance of the Merman.  Darcy and Whitney have been friends since college. However their friendship has come under strain with Merman's appearance and the secrets that Darcy has been keeping from Imani and Whitney- Most notably in her dating life and professional career.

Will is the 8 year old son of Imani and Cozette. He is usually very shy. He used to like soccer but now he's becoming more partial to swimming since becoming BFF's with the Merman. His favorite color is Blue. His favorite animal is the orca whale, which is a mammal and not a fish, like his Aunt Whitney told him and she never lies.

Charlie, everyone loves Charlie. A former army medic with a kind easy-going nature He's the janitor at the aquarium and is good friends with Darcy and Whitney. Though more so with Darcy who often works late into the night. He would absolutely help the ladies bury a body in exchange for a tray of brownies. Because honestly, you would to for Imani's brownies.

Imani's wife, they've been married for eight years. Cozette is currently ten months into a year tour for a charity in which medical professionals are sent to areas of catastrophes to provide medical care. As a  trauma surgeon, her skills are sorely needed. This is her second tour, however this tour proves to be taking a toll on her.

He always seems to be involved when criminal matters come up! Who is this mysterious man?

David has been with the force for five years. However he has recently become disillusioned with the police after the way his Mother was treated during a mental health crisis. Because of it, he decided to become a Clinical Psychologist, and has been going to night school.

A man who only cares about he bottom line. He became head of the science department before the Triton tragedy and it became clear to the Aquarium staff while Whitney was on leave that he cared about one thing- money. He Diverted the money to more "exciting departments". Then re-hired Whitney to exploit the Triton tragedy and what's worse, he knows the merman exists- And he's determined to use the Merman to sling-shot him into fame and fortune.
